Shimmering Scale - Guild Wars Forums

I searched the forums but couldn't find anything about it.

I found the Shimmering Scale pre-sear and can't figure out what to do with it. Does anyone here know the use of it?

All it was was a beginner mission quest item.. You killed the skale, got the shimmering scale, and took it back to the trainer. End of Story. I realize that you could kill more skales and get more scales, but the extras serve no practical purpose. Best to either drop the extras or put them into the inventory trashcan.

I went looking for the answer somewhere else, and it seems to be part of a monk mission, but I am not a monk and I never obtained it as any other character. Is this some sort of glitch or did anyone else get that too?

It is for the first mission you get as an elementalist.

it doesnt matter what profession you are a shimmering scale will drop and if you can use it fine otherwise dump it

same for quest item bear hides

you will get one now and then before, during, and after the quest for it but only the one you use is any good the rest are trash

Also, you need the scale for your first quest for ALL classes...

No, you don't. Some classes just have to kill Skales. Elementalist needs to get the Shimmering Scale. Monk needs to kill Skales and rescue Gwen. The first quest varies according to your class, although it always involves Skales down by the river in some way.
